National Parks | Birdwatching | Rainforest PERU NATIONAL PARKS National Parks are: Cutervo, Tingo Maria, Manu, Huascaran , Cerros of Amotape, Rio Abiseo, Yanachaga Chimellen Bahuaja Sonene Cerros of Amotape, National Park Cerros de Amotape National Park covers 91,300 hectares of the Amotapes Mountain Range. It is part of Noroeste Biosphere Reserve’s core zone. The Noroeste Biosphere is 231,402 hectares and is made up of Cerros de Amotape National Park, El Angola Game Preserve, and Tumbes Reserved Zone. Supreme Decree Number 0800-75-AG created the park on July 22, 1975. The park has several distinct life
zones. Overall, the area is a key component to the biological corridor
that guarantees conservation of Peru’s extreme northern natural
environments. Scientists have registered 404 floral species in park’s
the five habitats, that range from humid to dry. The fauna is varied;
there are species from the Peruvian coastal desert, the Pacific tropical
forest, and the Andean Range. The park does not have high rates of
biodiversity; rather it has a large number of endemic species. Species
found in no other area of Peru include the Crocodylus acutus and Lutra longicaudis, both of which are endangered. This National Park has four different ecosystems. We can find 44 arboreal species, 47 bush species, 61 plants, 12 dimming plants, 7 cactaceas and 12 epiphytes (4 varieties of archids).
