The Cotahuasi is one of
the most spectacular canyons in Perú and the world (3,354
mts. deep) yet it is virtually unknown to modern man until
1994, when an expedition made by our operator with Peruvian
guides and American members, did the first descent of this
incredible canyon. The lower canyon is an ideal place for commercial rafting, with
rapids difficult enough to challenge the adventurous, yet
with an abundance of unexplored archaeological sites. |

| Colca Canyon River
Rafting 10D/9N |
 |
Tucked away in an isolated
fold in the Andes of Southern Peru, the Colca thunders
through the Everest of river canyons.
Well over twice as
deep as the Grand Canyon, cliffs rise over two vertical miles
framing a gorge so impossibly deep that on occasion the sky
gives way to wind swept walls. Condors soaring through the
mist of thousand foot waterfalls and wispy plums of smoke
from live volcanoes form a backdrop for one of the earth's
grandest cathedrals. |
| Kayak Course |
 |
Water for the kayak races
comes from existing river flow by routing a portion down the
east channel course. It is not necessary to raise river flow
for the races. |
