The
main purposes of the National & Historical Sanctuaries are the
protection of the local habitat the flora and fauna as well as the
natural formations that could have some scientific and scenic concern.
The National Sanctuaries & Historical
are: Mejia Lagoons, Ampay, Mangrove
Sweeps of Tumbes, Calipuy, Huayllay, Pampa off ayacucho, Machu Picchu
The Historical Sanctuary of the Pampa of Ayacucho
Ayacucho is very well known
for its artisans that have inherited from their ancestors all they know.
This city counts with many churches and temples. During the Holy Week
the city is crowded with many Christians from all the country.
Ayacucho is also known because
there is a tradition in the city that all houses must have a little
church on the roof of the house.
We can find the partridge of puna (Tinamotis
pentlandii), the andean partridge (Nothoprecta pentlandii), the huallara
(Chloephaga melanopterus), the lique lique (Vanellus resplenders) and
the Kulle Kulle (Attagis gayi). With regard to the native plants living
in the area we can see a the wild trefall (Trifolium amabile), the pinco
pinco (Ephedra americana), the llanten (Plantago sp.) and the peccoy (Stipa
ichu). Likewise we can mention some pastures like: Calamagrostis sp.,
Poa sp. and Alchemilla pinnata.

The main goals of this historical sanctuary are to protect the natural
and Historical Inheritance of the Battle of Ayacucho and improve and
enlarge the Tourist Circuit of Ayacucho - Wari ruins - Quinua - Pampas
de Ayacucho
